Reflections on the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction: Five Years Since Its Adoption

Abstract

1 Human and material losses in the first four targets of the Sendai Framework include the number of persons dead and missing, the number of persons affected, economic losses, damage and destruction of infrastructure, and disruption of basic services.2 The mechanisms for reducing disaster risk include national and local disaster risk reduction strategies in line with the Sendai Framework, international cooperation, and multi-hazard early warning systems.
