Abstract

The development of a new drug involves different stages, during which a variety of test data are produced to determine its efficacy and non-toxicity. In the preclinical stage, the new chemical entity (NCE) is tested in animals to assess its pharmacodynamic, pharmacokinetic and toxicological profile.1 Based on these results, clinical studies in human beings are carried out in three phases.
