The Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) provides leadership and services in administrating grants and criminal justice policy development to support local, state, and tribal justice agencies. The Programs Office coordinates and administers all state and local grant programs as well as equips local, state, and tribal governments with a direct line of communication to the BJA. The BJA's National Training and Technical Assistance Center serves criminal justice systems with training and technical assistance resources to improve data-driven systems and achieve safer communities. The Bureau of Justice Administration's Center for Research Partnerships and Program Evaluation uses data-driven, research-based, and innovative approaches to enhance capacity and outcomes in community safety. In all, the BJA is consequential in shaping the criminal justice system through resources provision and specification of the scope conditions for grant awards.
