EnglishPhysical activity habits and the active and healthy lifestyle are topics of national interest, largely due to the infant obesity that exists today in Chile. However, for some years, physical activity and sports programs have been developed for Chilean school children, without any diagnosis which is the reality of this situation, not knowing, what the school children practice, where does he/she practice, which are their motivations to practice or not, what is the physical-sporting of the family activity, among others. Besides, there is no valid instrument for the Chilean school population which allows measuring such practice habits. The present study aims to elaborate on a valid instrument to measure the practice habits of the physical and sport activity of the Chilean school population. To do so, different specialized doctors (linguistic, Sociology, Statistic, and P.E teacher) evaluate the content validity, criteria, and construct of the instrument. the instrument was also validated in a pilot student sample (n=110). This instrument will allow us to measure the practice habits of physical activity and sport in school children from different Chilean schools to obtain valid information, and more objective, that facilitates the definition of policies and contextualized programs to the requirements and expectations of the population. This research was funded by the Ministry of Sports, through the National Institute of Sport, contest FONDEPORTE 2019, Science of Sport category, code 1900120408.
