The aim of this study was to analyze the perception of young people from Generation Z about working with technology in technology-based startups. In both international and national literature, there are few researches that articulate discussions on startups, Industry 4.0 and Generation Z, such contemporary themes. Qualitative in nature, this study was based on semi-structured interviews with twelve young people who work in technology-based startups in the city of Belo Horizonte (Minas Gerais). Young people's narratives about working with technology were enthusiastic. At startups, what attracts them most is the ability to develop, even at the expense of remuneration. They value horizontal management, flexible hours and workplaces, freedom of communication and the autonomy granted. In addition, young people reported disadvantages related to work at startups, such as high pressure and demands, which lead to anxiety and stress. The difficulty of balancing professional and personal life and job insecurity were also identified by young people as challenges experienced in the technological work environment.
