Naming has not been accepted as an ordinary event by human beings. The name given as a result of the act of naming; since it is believed that it will affect the character of the person, his position in the society and his future, attention has been paid to ensure that the naming person is not a member of the community. In the old Turks, it was believed that people who were believed to be naming by God himself or to be blessed by God should be effective in naming, by avoiding the potential of naming the person as a naming person. After the Turks accepted Islam, many elements of this religion and especially Arab culture influenced Turkish culture; In the context of the Turkish naming tradition, the naming profile has also been affected by this. Because while God, as the naming profile, performed the act of naming with the form of an old man or woman in the mythical period, after the adoption of Islam, this action was carried out in Islamic lines such as prophet, saint, dervish, elder, pir, Shahimerdan Hz. Ali, Hızır, imam, hodja, scholar started to be fulfilled by the new naming profile. Afterwards, it turned into a situation where the eldest/experienced member of the family or family assumed the role of naming in places where there were no religious people. However, with the strengthening of the nuclear family model due to urbanization in 20th century Turkey and the emergence of a socially secular/individual perception, the right to name was transferred from the initiative of the ancestors/family elders in the traditional sense to the personal preferences of the child's parents. Electronic cultural elements were effective in determining these preferences, and television and internet-based social media applications, which are used by large masses in the 21st century, came to the fore as the digital naming profile of this period. In this study, the cultural change/transformation in the naming profile, which has an important place in the naming culture of the Turks, has been tried to be revealed in the context of Turkish folklore elements.
