The beginnings of applied psychology in Argentina have among its significant antecedents the creation of the Instituto de Psicotecnia y Orientacion Profesional in 1925. Founded as a state agency after the Congreso del Trabajo meeting in the city of Rosario in 1923, in 1931 it was suppressed of the national budget becoming part of the Museo Social Argentino (MSA). In 1932, it began to function within the structure of the MSA as a Seccion de Orientacion Profesional, retaining its initial purposes: the organization of the professional guidance of graduates of primary and secondary schools, the selection of personnel (employees and workers) and the realization of scientific research related to the above purposes (Seccion de Orientacion Profesional, 1932). In the following years, the activities of the section increased, expanding the range of its interventions of orientation and selection from the link with various State departments, private companies and educational institutions. The objective of this paper is to analyze the Boletin del Museo Social Argentino (BMSA), official publication of the MSA, as a space for intellectual sociability. Following Charles Prochasson, understood as a dynamic medium in which a wide range of individual and group relationships intersect and not as a mere compilation of writings (Merbilhaa, 2012). Focus will be placed on the social networks established by the Seccion de Orientacion Profesional within the MSA. For this, the BMSA publications referring to the topics of orientation and professional selection, the Memoirs of the Institution's Social Exercise, and various brochures produced in the period 1932-1947, to the extent that it constitutes the period in which the institution is part of the MSA. The proposed perspective constitutes a cross between the disciplinary history of psychology and intellectual history. The participants and collaborators of the Seccion de Orientacion Profesional that appear in the BMSA were recognized figures of diverse fields: the professional exercise, the teaching and the participation in state entities. It is noted that the sociability networks in the institution were established both from the dissemination of notes from foreign authors, from the presence of the Seccion de Orientacion Profesional in congresses and meetings of local intellectuals, from the participation of foreign authors in activities of the section, and of the linkage of the institution with distributions of the state and companies that required its services. Regarding the dissemination of articles by foreign authors, it is pointed out that the published articles corresponded mainly to recognized authors of the international scope linked, either with the teaching of applied psychology, or with the direction of other psycho-technical institutes. In the 1930-1942 periods, a series of articles by international collaborators were published that synthesized the work of various psycho-technical institutes in Spain, Portugal, France and the United States. At the same time, the memories of the fiscal year allow account of the institution's ties with other countries. In this regard, the request for collaboration of the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Cuba and the Minister of Public Instruction of Uruguay was pointed out, for example, for the projection of the creation of institutes analogous to Argentina (Instituto de Orientacion Profesional, 1937). Regarding the sociability networks established in the local context, it is pointed out that these led to the installation of various psycho-technical cabinets following the model of the institution, created in the cities of Rosario, Mendoza, San Cristobal and Venado Tuerto (Instituto de Orientacion Profesional , 1942). Finally, the participation of the MSA in the Primera Conferencia Nacional de Psicotecnia (1938) stands out as relevant, to the extent that Spanish psychiatrist Bernard Morales, a member of the Instituto de Psicotecnia de Madrid (Tercer Congreso Provincial del Nino y Primera Conferencia Nacional de Psicotecnia, 1938), that later would be exiled in Argentina and would develop its work within the Seccion de Orientacion Profesional.
