The Drawings of the Disadvantaged: A Comparative Study

Abstract

One area of historic and contemporary research in the field of art education is the character and cause of children's art. In this article I would like to discuss three aspects of child art: first, to describe some of the major positions that have been formulated to account for child art; second, to present a point-of-view concerning developmental characteristics found in children's art, and third, to present some findings of a study that has attempted to develop and employ a scale for assessing the changing characteristics of child art.
