Abstract

Since that's the way it was, that day, August, 1978, (according to my experience, anyway), my response to the special threepart program was positive. As with many other people, I have my own concept of what things ought to be like. For television, that means there ought to be a clean separation of authority and personalities when it comes to news, advertising, commentary, and entertainment. When news reporters try to entertain, or commentators get into advertising, the potential of the medium is blurred, and the validity of the message is marred.
