EnglishWhile literature has already shown some preliminary theoretical foundations and empirical evidence on accelerated internationalization, yet little is known on innovation-related behaviour of Spanish young ventures. This study is an attempt to test the effects of internal and external factors on the propensity to innovate of young ventures while they struggle during their early stages. We used data from the GEM project (Global Entrepreneurship Project) and INE (i.e., Spanish Institute of Statistics) to test our study propositions. Our findings suggest that the human capital of the entrepreneur, as well as industry and location related firm external factors seem to be relevant to explain the propensity of young ventures for innovation. Furthermore, this propensity becomes larger as ventures get older and enter foreign markets.
