ABSTRACTThis study investigated the relationship between intrinsic and extrinsic rewards with employee commitment to the organization. The respondents are comprised of 60 administrative assistants in the Muar Municipal Council. Questionnaires used for data collection were modified from original survey questionnaire on commitment to the organization by Abu Bakr (1999) and the intrinsic and extrinsic rewards by Fadzrulhisham Children (2001) and Noshasimah Mohd Nor (2002). The data obtained were analyzed using Pearson correlation statistics. The results obtained indicate the existence of a significant relationship between intrinsic rewards with commitment to the organization, but there is no such relationship with the extrinsic rewards.
