Ethnoarchaeology is ethnographic research conducted by archaeologists to understand how people in different social, environmental, historical, and ontological contexts materially constitute societal practices and relationships. These relationships can be with people, other living organisms, environmental materials and conditions, and culturally invisible entities. Ethnoarchaeological study enriches the understanding of the variability of material practice within and across contemporary societies and can provide information useful in developing archaeological inference.
