Abstract This chapter discusses the physical remains of the copper, lead, and tin mining industries within Britain and the subsequent processing of ore on or near to the various mining sites. The discussion covers these mining industries from the eighteen century through to the twentieth. It reviews the archaeological evidence for metal processing, the relevant power systems employed within these metal extractive industries, and the main geographical areas where this archaeological evidence survives within Britain. Although the focus is on remains from Britain, other European and global examples of non-ferrous mining archaeological remains are discussed in relation to significant surviving landscapes and the evidence for technology transfer.
