Wirtschaftlichkeit und gesellschaftliches Engagement von Unternehmen sind kein Widerspruch, so die These des vorliegendes Artikels. Wollen Unternehmen auf Dauer erfolgreich sein, brauchen sie ein dafür geeignetes regionales Umfeld. Gerade gemeinsame Engagement-Initiativen von kleinen und mittelständischen Unternehmen können daher nicht nur die Lebensverhältnisse und die Standortattraktivität einer Region befördern, sondern auch die eigene Wettbewerbsfähigkeit erhöhen. Profitability and corporate citizenship of enterprises are no contradiction, that is the core proposition of the current article. If enterprises aim at long-term success, they need a suitable regional environment. And it is particularly joint initiatives of corporate citizenship by small and medium-sized enterprises which promote both the living conditions and the attractiveness of the location and the competitiveness of the companies involved.
