Abstract This article, which discusses justice as an objective of urban planning, mentions that the planning profession's Code of Ethics in the United States states that planners should serve the public interest. It also enumerates the reasons why planners should be concerned with justice. These include the fact that planning is an action of government which necessarily affects the distribution of goods, services, and, more generally, life opportunities among individuals and groups, and that planners' actions focus on the distribution of space and thus the distribution of its benefits and costs.
