The thrust of this strategy is the promotion of broad-based economic growth and increased investment in human resource development. The report first analyzes the medium-term macroeconomic policy agenda with the objective of sustaining and strengthening macroeconomic stability which is a necessary condition for growth and poverty reduction. It then reviews the prospects for steady economic growth. Finally, a poverty update analyzes the status of and changes in poverty during the adjustment period.
