Over the last 15 years of the Franco dictatorship, between 1960 and 1975, Spain underwent the greatest period of economic upheaval in its history while experiencing vast social and cultural changes. The ossified nature of the political system, crystallized in the dictator’s famous conceit that ‘all is tied down and well tied down’, contrasted starkly with the fact that political attitudes and values, within the regime as well as within Spanish society as a whole, were changing too. Change, whether economic, social, cultural or political, was therefore the defining characteristic of these years. These keywords were added by machine and not by the authors.
