Abstract

For the second face of this carte blanche we have invited Katarina Brestovanska, choreographer and editor-in-chief at SE.S.TA – the Centre for Choreographic Development (Prague). Drawing on her experience as an artist, she examines how dance performances engage the audience. Models developed in Game Studies allow her to identify different degrees of engagement among spectators: according to where they are in the performance space and the way that the performers guide their attention, they adopt in turn a position of observer, witness or partner in the game.
