Marriage is an extremely important part of the personal life cycle, and marital satisfaction is an important indicator to measure the happiness of life. Based on the data of the 2018 Chinese General Social Survey (CGSS), this paper studies the impact of education level on marital satisfaction and its mechanism. The baseline regression results show that education level has a positive and significant impact on marital satisfaction, and the basic conclusions have not changed when the measurement of education level is changed or the data is changed. After the endogenous problem is solved, the effect is still significant. The mechanism analysis shows that education level can affect individual marital satisfaction through income and spiritual abundance. Further discussion finds that the impact of education level on marital satisfaction of different gender and age groups is different. Improving the level of education development, breaking the shackles of ideology and economic conditions, and ensuring education equality will help to improve the marital satisfaction of marriageable groups and promote social harmony.
