Abstract This chapter examines the process set out in the ICE Regulations for initiating negotiations on information and consultation arrangements. It covers the following principal areas: the right of employees to request and receive information about staff numbers to confirm whether there is a sufficient number of employees within the undertaking to trigger the right to information and consultation; the making of a request by employees or their representatives to commence negotiations on information and consultation arrangements; how the employer can/ should respond to the making of a request;
