Abstract Within the philosophy of normativity, the 1970s was the age of the discovery of reasons. Joseph Raz was one of the first explorers. In his Practical Reason and Norms, Raz carefully codified the concept of a reason, and he has been a leader in its development ever since. Since those years of discovery, reasons have come to dominate thinking about normativity. Some authors now believe normativity consists of little else. Raz himself says: The normativity of all that is normative consists in the way it is, or provides, or is otherwise related to reasons. All is reasons.
