The purpose of the research is to investigate the sustainability and management of cultural routes by institutional and non-institutional bodies, as well as the ways in which these characteristics can contribute to the development of urban cultural tourism. The quantitative approach was deemed the most appropriate. The selection of participants was crucial and the sampling that was carried out is characterized as intentional. A structured questionnaire was used to collect the quantitative research data. After the coding of the data, statistical means, with emphasis on descriptive and inferential statistics, were used. Cultural routes , through the advantages they offer, are a strategic tool for the development of urban cultural tourism. Cultural heritage itself, as a product of design, can make a decisive contribution, not only to urban reconstruction but also to the enhancement of cultural tourism. The originality of the research was based on the fact of identifying a gap in the literature concerning the connection of cultural routes with private-public partnerships, the sources of funding and the Recovery Fund. The usefulness of the research lies in the fact of highlighting data regarding the partnerships of the private and public sectors and how these can be utilized and provide benefits to both parties.
