Abstract

This chapter presents a brief comparison of the procedures for resolution of hospital labour disputes between the Canadian and the United States legislations, and covers the methods of dispute resolution namely negotiations, mediation and conciliation, boards of conciliation and fact-finding and final offer arbitration. Different arbitration systems as they obtain in UK and North America are discussed by Lynn Harnden in Chapter 15 of this volume.
