Abstract The human sensory systems are more complicated than is sometimes assumed. When one thinks of sensory differences, one often focuses on vision and hearing. However, those are only two senses that some students struggle with on a daily basis. Taste, touch, and smell are also affected. Two whole body systems are also to be considered: proprioceptive and vestibular. Proprioception is the concept of “body in space” and knowing where your limbs, toes, and fingers are. The vestibular system aids with balance and resetting the body as it rotates and moves. Students can struggle with any one, or more, of these seven sensory systems.
