In response to the scope and complexity of AI ethics, this study suggests a research agenda rooted in the principles of deliberative democracy and agonistic pluralism. The proposed research agenda advocates for multidisciplinary, inclusive, and power-conscious AI ethics research. It encourages ongoing dialogue, empirical investigation, and action to safeguard ethics, promote fairness, and ensure the responsible deployment of AI technologies. The theoretical lens of deliberative democracy and agonistic pluralism can enable researchers to engage in the intricate AI ethics terrain and harness AI’s potential while addressing its ethical challenges in a just and equitable manner.
