This paper reviews the literature on hotel career. Despite its contributions to the broader hospitality career, existing research provides a limited understanding of the concept. Employing a rigorous systematic review approach methods and Leximancer software, researchers examined the intricate connections among hotel career constructs. A filtered search yielded 67 articles published in the Australian Business Dean Council (ABDC) and Chartered Association of Business Schools (ABS) ranked journals. Findings demonstrate that diverse hotel career perspectives are shaped by complex interactions between theoretical foundations, differing disciplinary viewpoints, industry dynamics and cultural factors. The study shows individual, organisational and societal factors collectively shape hotel career attitudes and intentions. This review offers practical guidance for effective career development and recruitment programmes, tailored to diverse career perspectives, ultimately leading to a more engaged and productive workforce. By addressing the limited holistic understanding of hotel career, this review offers significant new insights for both new and experienced academics and informed practitioners in the hospitality and tourism industry.
