There is a growing recognition of the vital role played by innovative financing strategies in climate change adaptation. However, the existing body of knowledge on resilience financing for cultural heritage and landscapes is somehow fragmented, and primarily focuses on the conservation or reuse of the built heritage. This study aims to consolidate fragmented knowledge, by mapping empirical patterns of economic, financing and business solutions used for the protection of cultural landscapes, intended as dynamic socio-ecological systems. Based on a systematic review of existing literature and drawing insights from prior projects, this study presents a thorough review of innovative financing solutions that have the potential to leverage regenerative capital investments in landscape resilience. It reveals twelve dominant categories of economic, financing, and business solutions - EFB strategies - that can be used to build the resilience of cultural landscapes. Additionally, key benefits and enabling factors are discussed, offering valuable insights for policymakers, businesses, and cultural institutions seeking to implement those strategies. • 12 financing strategies for resilience of cultural landscapes (CLs) were identified. • Key enabling factors include stakeholder engagement, strategic planning, regulatory support, sustainability commitment. • Key benefits include social cohesion, urban regeneration, environmental benefits, risk reduction. • Aligning objectives of sectoral policies and mapping funds can increase financial resources for CLs.
