New Education Policy 2020 in India, requires academic librarians to use innovative methods and contribute to holistic development of students. The article recommends bibliotherapy as a tool to promote holistic development. This exploratory study is based on a workshop to teach academic librarians about application of 1) theme, 2) literary resource, and 3) expressive art form in a four- stage bibliotherapy process. In this one-stop case experiment, results were obtained from qualitative analysis of data extracted from participants’ feedback. The results indicate positive attitude of librarians toward bibliotherapy. They are ready to collaborate with psychologists/counselors to explore the use of this technique in their libraries, to effectuate holistic development of students. They also showed eagerness to acquire knowledge, skills and attitude necessary for effective bibliotherapy. The design of the experiment can be replicated to test the effectiveness of other design elements described in the paper.
