Drawing on a case study of construction work in Switzerland, this article explores the potentials of labour process theory (LPT) for analyzing conflicts that arise in the world of work due to climate change. A multi-level analysis can contribute to an understanding of how politics at the level of the workplace and at the level of institutional regulation interact in mediating causes as well as effects of climate change. For example, pre-carious employment and precarious residence status produce vulnerability of workers to heat stress. Furthermore, an LPT approach can help understand corporate practices of maladap-tation as well as their contestation. The article also suggests ways in which LPT can be expanded in order to systematically take into account the ecological dimension of the labour pro-cess.
