The integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into various sectors of society has introduced significant challenges to legal procedures, resulting in what can be called legal entropy. This concept refers to the increasing disorder, unpredictability and complexity within legal systems as they attempt to regulate rapidly evolving technologies. This chapter explores the manifestations of legal entropy in AI governance, including regulatory uncertainty, inconsistent legal interpretation, algorithmic opacity, and ethical and liability dilemmas. It examines the factors contributing to this phenomenon, including the rapid pace of technological advances, fragmented regulatory approaches, and the erosion of legal predictability. To manage and mitigate legal entropy, the chapter proposes several strategies, such as developing adaptive legal frameworks, enhancing transparency and accountability in AI systems, ensuring human oversight, promoting international cooperation, bridging the expertise gap and encouraging innovation in legal technology.
