The National Urban Transport Policy (NUTP) of India, introduced in 2006 and revised in 2014, aims to develop sustainable, safe, affordable, and efficient urban transportation systems. This study analyses seven major transportation policies of the Indian government using the document analysis method to assess their effectiveness in addressing the needs of the senior citizen population. Findings indicate that while the policy has led to successes like modern bus rapid transit systems and sustainable transport modes, challenges remain in funding, inter-agency coordination, and public participation. The analysis highlights the NUTP’s emphasis on inclusive and accessible transport infrastructure, which enhances mobility, safety, and convenience for older individuals.
