Using new archival material the author shows that Adrien Parent (†1705), an entrepreneur who had left France and worked in Brussels, owned the models of the Cleopatra tapestry series designed by French painter Charles Poerson and woven in Brussels in around 1670. Parent subcontracted the production of the series to the Le Clerc workshop. Parent's commercial network also included entrepreneur and art dealer Francois van Coppenolle and JeanFrancois de Grousseliers, the manager of the Brussels tapissierspand - a marketplace-cum-bank. It is possible that the network around Parent played a vital role in the development of the Brussels tapestry industry around 1670, not only controlling the Brussels pand but also forming the main contact point between Brussels and France.
