Abstract

The author is known internationally as an authority on social service work. The first few chapters contain an historical outline and describe the general principles underlying modern practice. Outlines of social service work in France, England, Germany, Italy, Russia and the United States constitute most of the book. As far as this country is concerned, nearly every activity that might be included in the rather broad field discussed appears to be mentioned. The book will be of interest to social service students.
