Lands of pleasure : essays on Lillian H. Smith and the development of children's libraries

Abstract

In this book the editors have sought to celebrate the enormous accomplishments of Lillian H. Smith and to consider the way in which her vision of library work with children has evolved. Miss Smith's philosophy of children and books distinguished her work at the Toronto Public Library and formed the basis of the classic book on children's literature, The Unreluctant Years. Contributors to this volume include Mary Beaty, Margaret Bush, Sheila Egoff, Sarah Ellis, Adele M. Fasick, Monica Hughes, Margaret Johnston, Alice Kane, Marilyn Kaye, Margaret Crawford Maloney, Irma McDonough Milnes, Debora Pearson, and Tim Wynne-Jones.
