Divorce wars: Interventions with families in conflict.

Abstract

Most people know that divorce has negative effects on children. In fact research shows that divorce doubles their risk of emotional and behavioural disorders. This book is written for experts who work with families to help them navigate this ordeal, and provides information and research-based guidance to help children in high-conflict families. Written in an accessible style, each chapter in this work features a case study that vividly depicts problems common to families going through a divorce. Ellis provides guidelines for clinicians and suggests ways to intervene with families before conflict escalates into divorce proceedings. Covering all stages of divorce cases, beginning with the warning signs of a failing marriage and ending with post-divorce conflict surrounding child custody, this resource book should be of value for the clinician who does child and family forensic evaluations or who serves as an expert witness in court, as well as for divorce lawyers and family therapists.
