Managing Library Outreach Programs: A How-To-Do-It Manual for Librarians

Abstract

This resource defines and clarifies the need for outreach library services for children and youth, and then tackles the practical matters of implementing successful programmes. Beginning with needs assessment and targetting patrons, it then covers partnership building, training of staff and voluntary personnel, and promotion. The book also includes an appendix of appropriate materials and offers information on model offsite programmes with sufficient information to enable managers of new offsite projects to get started.
