Alter hat genau so wenig wie Kindheit und Jugend ein einheitliches Ge sicht. Zwischen Menschen gleicher Jahrgänge gibt es in Wohlbefinden und psychosozialer Gesundheit ein breites Spektrum. Die Gerontologie nennt dies interindividuelle Varianz.
