Confucian philosophy offers beneficial insights into modern mental health issues like anxiety and social adaptation confusion, yet its value is often locked behind archaic texts. We present CyberConfucius, an LLM-based, culturally grounded interactive counseling system that brings Confucian wisdom to life in the form of philosophical counseling to help promote mental health. The system proposes a novel idiom-based retrieval-argument generation strategy to map contemporary user counseling questions with quotes from The Analects, and leverages prompts to provide empathetic responses, proactive questioning, and structured summaries to guide deep philosophical reflection. A preliminary user study suggests promising potential to align LLMs with philosophical classics for mental health support.
