Computer science students will play a crucial role in developing technology for a growing older adult population that will reach 2 billion by 2050. The Human Computer Interaction (HCI) community must prepare these students by addressing their perceptions of older adults aged$65+$. We explored these perceptions by conducting a case study at a large public university. The HCI course focused on the introductory principles of HCI and empowered students to lead lectures, participate in class activities, and complete introspective homework assignments. We performed a thematic analysis on data collected from classroom observations and homework assignments to uncover themes related to age perceptions. Our study offers two major contributions: 1) Themes representing the major perceptions of older adults in HCI classrooms, and 2) Recommendations on addressing biases identified in HCI students.
