This work-in-progress research paper describes the development of a rubric to evaluate Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) information literacy for programming. GenAI is a novel information tool that is not transparent about original sources and can sometimes generate incorrect responses to prompts. It is important for users to gain information literacy about GenAI, including the ability to identify, locate, evaluate, and effectively and responsibly use and share information for a specific purpose, i.e., information literacy. A rubric was adapted from the Association of American Colleges and Universities Information Literacy VALUE rubric and applied to student deliverables for a GenAI-integrated programming assignment in a first-year engineering course. This WIP paper describes the methodology for creating the rubric and discusses one learning objective in detail with preliminary results from$N=84$team assignments.
