We propose a conceptual framework that integrates visual communication design with a museum information system to enhance maritime-heritage engagement at Museum Bahari Jakarta. The study addresses fragmented visitor experiences arising from weak coupling between physical exhibitions and digital platforms. Using a mixed-methods design, directed visual content analysis of exhibition and branding materials plus descriptive analytics of website/Instagram activity, we find that aligning visual design principles with information architecture improves narrative coherence and user engagement. The framework comprises four components: (1) visual-identity consistency, (2) digital-content taxonomy, (3) interaction-design strategy, and (4) system-integration model. We outline a pilot implementation and measurement plan to operationalize the framework. The contribution is a design-driven IS perspective for museums that connects physical and digital touchpoints while maintaining cultural authenticity and supporting digital sustainability.
