This paper focuses on the extent to which disaster preparedness is embedded in recordkeeping practices in Tanzanian public universities. The study employed a quantitative research approach, and a cross-sectional research design was used to collect data. The study targeted a population of 89. Since the population of the study was relatively small, the census sampling technique was used. The study revealed that recordkeeping in public universities was exposed to risks. The risks identified included pest infection, rodents, computer system failure, fire, unauthorised intrusion, floods, leaking roofs, sabotage, and explosions. Considering the study findings, the study recommends formulating risk management committee teams comprising recordkeeping officials and reviewing risk management policies to ensure that recordkeeping components are incorporated to minimise threats and risk exposure for public universities.
