The present chapter explores the manifestation of executive function (EF) insufficiencies in children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and examines the potential of computerized EF training programs to alleviate these challenges and promote adaptive behavior. It begins by defining executive function skills (EFs) and reviewing research that documents EF deficits in these populations. The chapter then provides an overview of computerized EF training programs developed for children with ASD or ADHD and concludes with a discussion of their effectiveness, focusing on the ongoing debate in cognitive research regarding the extent to which training gains transfer to untrained tasks and broader abilities.
