Dataset for "A Multi-Layered Perspective on Algorithmic Control Systems: Managerial Design Choices and Worker Legitimacy Judgments" (Alizadeh et al., 2026, European Journal of Information Systems, 35(3), 404-429). The paper proposes a three-layered conceptual framework for algorithmic control systems, consisting of a control layer, a data layer, and an organizational embedding layer. On this conceptual basis, it reports results from a vignette-based factorial survey experiment with 329 workers examining how managerial design choices shape perceptions of autonomy and exploitation and, ultimately, legitimacy judgments.
