Education and development in Latin America: challenges from the human sciences and critical thinking
Abstract
The objective of this research is to analyze education and development in Latin America in light of challenges viewed through the lens of the human sciences and critical thought. Employing a post-positivist methodological framework, a hermeneutic method, and a constructivist perspective, the study utilized a documentary review of specialized sources both classical and contemporary. The findings focus on education and human development; inequality and equity; critical thought and pedagogy; intercultural education and the human sciences; and critical epistemology, bioethics, and biopower. The study concludes that, given the demands of modern education, the barriers within the educational system spanning from the school level to the university pose a significant challenge amidst the difficulties and demands of the 21st century, thereby complicating learning processes across the various educational models proposed in Latin America.
