Phase composition of Medieval slags produced by silver metallurgy was studied at four localities near Havlíčkův Brod (Stříbrné Hory 1 and 2, Utín, and Hesov). Different types of slags were studied by polarizing microscope in transmitted and reflected light. Consequently, selected phases were analysed by WDX and EDX. Major components are represented by glass (dominant oxides: 64–36 wt. % SiO2, 44–15 wt. % FeO, 11–2 wt. % Al2O3, and 8–2 wt. % CaO), olivine (83.5 mol. % fayalite, 13.8 mol. % tephroite), and rarely wüstite. Other minerals that occur in sulphidic droplets are pyrrhotite, rudashevskyite, Cu-Fe-S phase, Cu-Fe-Ag-S phase, and Pb-Fe-Cl phase.
