Diversity is essential in the tourism and events industry, encompassing cultural, ethnic, gender, and ability-based differences. As global tourism expands, inclusivity becomes increasingly important. However, challenges such as underrepresentation, inequality, and accessibility barriers persist. Effective diversity management requires inclusive marketing, universal design, and diverse leadership. The future of the tourism and events industry depends on proactive measures, including cultural sensitivity training and policies supporting marginalised communities. Therefore, Higher Education plays a crucial role in preparing professionals to address these challenges. By embedding diversity into the curriculum, using inclusive teaching strategies, and fostering industry collaborations, educators can equip students with the skills to promote inclusivity. This chapter examines the importance of diversity in tourism and events, the barriers to achieving it, and strategies for both industry and education to adopt a more equitable and sustainable future.
