The earliest text history of 1-2 Kings in Hebrew is inseparably linked with the history of the Greek text of the Books of Kings because the Septuagint (LXX) text witnesses raise a double question: that of the difference between LXX and Massoretic text (MT), and that of the divergences among the witnesses of the LXX themselves. The text form of 2 Kgs 21 in the Vetus Latina (VL), as quoted by Lucifer, differs in many details from the MT as well as from the witnesses of LXX. VL here obviously differs to a greater degree from MT than the other LXX witnesses, including the Lucianic (or Antiochene) ones. According to LXX, King Manasseh made only one altar in the house of YHWH. VL only mentions three practices: augurabatur , fecit pythones , et divinos multos . Keywords: 1-2 Kings; altar; King Manasseh; Massoretic text (MT); Septuagint (LXX) text; Vetus Latina (VL)
