Abstract

This report describes TRANSIMS for its programming architecture and functions, and evaluates its performance and application feasibility in Delaware. Two cases were tested, one for a small network but defined to a high detail (Newark study) and two, an extensive network but defined to a low detail (New Castle County study). The TRANSIMS version 1.1 obtained from the Los Alamos National Laboratory was used for these two cases. TRANSIMS was found to be suitable for application to metropolitan areas, where detailed information on congestion and emissions is critical for making short-term planning decisions.
