The main aim of the thesis is to show that training activities provided by organisations may influence the SMEs growth in their major fields of functioning by increasing the value of human capital. The first chapter covers the topic of SMEs growth. It is devoted to show features of these organisations and their role in economies. Additionally, there are concepts, models and areas of organisations' growth discussed. The second chapter is focused on the theory of human capital and on trainings as a form of investing in it. There are the stages of the training process discussed together with the factors that influence its level of professionalization. The third chapter includes the presentation of the research model, as well as the aim of the thesis and its hypotheses. The sources of information and research techniques are described there. The fourth and fifth chapter constitute the analysis and interpretation of the results of the research. The fourth chapter is devoted to the training activity of the SMEs including the level of its professionalization, while the fifth chapter treats about the correlation between the professionalization of the training activity and the level of the SMEs growth in particular areas. In the summary the research hypotheses and the model are verified. It also constitutes an attempt to determine the degree to which the aim of the research has been achieved. (original abstract)
